TP Silver Screen Edition takes the popular knowledge game, Trivial Pursuit, to the movies (and your PC screen). It can be played solo or with others for a quick game or a longer one.
The game and gameplay
When you load Trivial Pursuit Silver Screen Edition, space music will play and you’ll have the immediate option to click a 1 player game or a 2-4 player game.
No matter if you opt to go individually or as a group, you will always select the number of pie pieces you want to play for (minimum of two), the difficulty level of the questions (Beginner, Medium, or Movie Buff) and if you want exact roll or not to get back to the Hub.
The same host that voices the Family Feud PC game will be your guide. The participant that’s up first will be chosen at random.
On a turn, a player will always click ROLL to throw the dice, then select the available bubbled category space from there. The game categories are all movie-themed for this version of Trivial Pursuit and include: Actors, Actresses, Directors, Plot Points, Quotes & Names and Wildcard.
A contender will have 15 seconds to answer the multiple choice query they landed on using a “click and submit” system. Wrong answers will be eliminated one by one until you’re left with the correct response. Bad music will play if you got it wrong, and then it’s the next person’s turn. If you got it right, however, you keep going.

If you’re playing alone, you’ll go up against Bucky Pop, the cannibalistic popcorn tub (he’s cannibalistic because he munches on himself during the game). Play is the same as when you do multiplayer, except when Bucky’s guessing, you get to lock an answer that he can’t use during his turn. If you’re right and he’s popped, you win your turn back (you should pick an answer even if you’re not sure, as you could get lucky).
Move your way around the board by having your pawn flip or slip ‘n’ slide, aiming to land on one of the six pie places that you need to earn a wedge. Once you’ve acquired the agreed-upon number of pieces, head back to the Hub in the center of the board (where all players started from). Successfully answer one final inquiry from your WORST category to win.
Pros and cons
It’s good that the game provides you with the option to choose how many pie pieces you need to earn, as a lot of people aren’t that great at Trivial Pursuit and it can take forever to earn all six wedges. For an even shorter game, you can opt to have any board space grant you a pie slice if you get it right.
The game is good for increasing your random knowledge database. At the end of a game, the top ten high scores listing a profile’s number of wins are shown (that is, if you even play it enough to fill up all ten slots).
The sound is loud compared to the game voice, and I don’t like how the animation sticks his tongue out at me if I lose a question.
Trivial Pursuit Silver Screen Edition caters only to the movie genre of queries. I did the beginner difficulty and the PC version stayed true to the Trivial Pursuit name by having the questions be hard regardless. You must have a wide, wide movie knowledge to play this game.
The magic of playing the physical board game is lost with this take. I’d recommend you pick a Trivial Pursuit with a theme that you’re comfortable in if you want the game play to be fun.

Mild trivia buffs may like Trivial Pursuit Silver Screen Edition. For others, the game’s sounds and biased difficulty levels will be too annoying.
