You can argue about this until you’re blue in the face, but, with the possible exception of Episode III, the Clone Wars trilogy was a massive flop. Lucas was too proud to hire a screenwriter who had done anything worthwhile in the last 20 years and put out two dog-awful ‘prequels’ before finally getting help on Episode III.

Be honest, Episode III was hardly classic Star Wars, but it did improve on I and II. All this to say, I would have to be seriously bribed to buy a version of the Risk board game based on that trilogy. In general, the Star Wars Risk Original Trilogy Edition was better liked.

As you’d expect, this version introduces Clone Wars rules variants, as well as an all-new board, cards and miniatures. Choose which side of the Force you wish to fight on and get rolling!

Dont be put off by the films

NEW

by: JimmyG

OK first things first, this is Risk and it is based on what is without doubt the worst set of films ever. Well maybe not ever but certainly it did the franchise no good what so ever.

Now we have that out of the way what can I say about this version of risk?

It plays pretty much the same as normal risk except for one or two differences. The first is the Darth Sideous figure and order 66. This makes a massive difference to the game, it can be a game maker or game breaker depending on when it is played and which side you are on. The second major change is the fact that 2,3 or 4 people can play. if you play with 3 or 4 players then you have allies and must agree a strategy or you will be doomed, so it is a more co-operative game than the original.

It also plays quicker than the origanl version and that in my book is a huge + point, game will be over in about 2 hours.

The gameboard is nothing to write home about, I think its meant to represent a star chart on a ship, and if so its fine.

All in all its a good version of Risk and you can pick it up on EBay for less than £10 including postage.

If your after a quick version of risk that is different and encourages co-op play then ignore the awful films and grab yourself a copy, you wont regret it.
