Puzz Monopoly 3D
by The Beast!
(Boardgame Beast HQ)
Puzz Monopoly 3D originated in the UK and sure enough, if you want to own one of these sets, you’ll need to search on eBay.co.uk.
Even so, they rarely turn up and the price tag can be extreme. We found three sets (May 2009), all complete, two mint, one in original packaging with some wear.
The slightly worn box had a starting bid of 5 UKP (good deal), while the other two sets started for 40 and 50 UKP!
This must be a pretty scarce set in top shape. One of the reasons is the large, oversize box that’s hard to keep well. Another is that the Puzz series, which caused a bit of a stir when it first appeared, did a bit of a bomb.
It is an unusual kind of puzzle, consisting of 3D foam pieces. It wasn’t everybody’s cup of tea, being a weird kind of cross between models and jigsaws that would appeal to neither crowd 100 per cent.
I can remember seeing various sets (such as the Star Wars Milennium Falcon) selling for 99p at clearances after a bad Christmas period. Puzz sets were stacked high and they couldn’t give them away.
It’s the sort of thing that you could probably still find at yard or garage sales in the UK. Good luck ensuring that it’s complete under those circumstances though.
We’ve added a listing of live eBay.co.uk items. Dozens more Monopoly pages on Boardgame Beast are linked below the eBay listings.
