WOWOWOW. 1,000 of these made. That’s not many when you consider the popularity of the Risk board game. If you want to own one of these, you are being asked to part with $$$! Ouch.
Meanwhile over on eBay, we found one going for $$
(both prices December 2010). Truly a rare, desirable edition of Risk. The question is: will anybody ever open their cool Black Ops edition to actually PLAY it?!
If you do actually bother/dare to open it, then you’ll see that the game is a kind of cool gray and black, plus pastel color edition, with squares taking place of the various shapes they have used over the years.
I guess if I were to pay the sort of prices this thing is changing hands for, then I’d want some kind of hand-painted miniatures. Still, it is certainly different, and will probably remind veteran gamers of the polygon shapes used in the 1960s and early 1970s edition of the Risk board game.
It’s certainly got cult appeal, and I for one really like the new look. It is rather similar to the Onyx edition though.
