Carcassonne: The River 2
by The Beast!
(Boardgame Beast HQ)
The original River expansion to the Carcassonne game was interesting. It opens up the game more widely than the original way to begin the game.
River tiles can only join to other river tiles. Beginning with the spring — the source of the river — players take turns to shape the river. Eventually it empties into a lake, always the last of the river tiles.
Now play begins as usual. The only difference is, the game is already well spread out and presents lots more options to players.
Not recommended if you have a small table, because this mini-expansion tends to make the game field far more fragmented and spread out.
Carcassonne: The River 2 isn’t a bad little add-on. We don’t always use it, but it can certainly spice things up a bit.
