Forget Subway – Rebecca and Robert’s sandwich shop is the place to be! Please patrons in the same manic manner as Turbo Pizza, except with some tasty new additions.
What’s it about?
Rebecca catches a case of Flo-itis while vacationing with her partner, Robert, in New York. Her aunt gives her a gift of an old subway car, inspiring Rebecca to turn it into a play-on-words eatery of a similar genre.
Thus, a second franchise in the Turbo line is born and fans of the original couldn’t be happier!
Turbo Subs has a restaurant layout that is pretty much the same as its Italian counterpart. Hungry patrons still congregate around a wide counter, with a la cart items placed in locations identical to the premier edition.
Rebecca is still the one doing all of the running around, with Robert only landing a hand when it comes to replacing the three sandwich types (he flirts with you, the player, too).
The name of the game is still the same – serve customers in a timely and talented manner to make money and climb the ladder of success. As for what’s fresh, some different goodies have been added to the menu (including chips and cotton candy), thieves that will steal your tips are on the prowl, and a variety of condiments must sometimes be added to the subs.
The most important difference is the inclusion of the Turbo Service meter, which you fill by making extended combos. Once full, it unleashes a sort of energy that seems to cause Rebecca (and everything in the kitchen) to be on speed.

Pros and cons
+ You can start out on Easy or Expert.
+ Customers’ want bubbles flash once you have the appropriate food in your hand, aiding you in a speedy delivery.
+ Graphics have gotten a colorful, spacey boost compared to the last game.
+ Any unused portion of your Turbo Service meter gets added to your score at the end of a level.
+ There are strobe-like effects for when you get Expert score on a level (if you enable it).
+ Status reports give you compliments like “we stand in awe of your magnificent perfection” at the end of a level. Wow!
+ If you miss the mark for an Expert score, the game gives you the opportunity to re-play the level at the end. You can always come back to pwn later, too.
+ There are ten more levels than the last game at some awesome venues, like on a carousel and inside the Statue of Liberty’s crown.+ A hidden object mini-game appears every so often. It’s a nice break from the madness!
+ It’s even harder than the initial version. Never mind Jared of Subway fame; you must be fit *mentally* to survive this hoagie shop.
- It’s super easy to squirt the wrong sauce on a sub, or accidentally toast it when a customer wanted it unheated. One mistake and the whole sandwich is ruined and the consumer is angered... unless someone else happened to order your flub.
- I can usually only play a few levels in a sitting before I get burnt out from the stress/sameness of it all.
The verdict
The Turbo games have been dubbed "Diner Dash on steroids", so depending on if you can keep up or not, you will either love it or hate it. While it’s recommended to stay away from fast food in real life, you can feel good about indulging in Turbo Subs!
