Quick verdict

Turbo Pizza is a quick-clicking time management game that attempts to turn pizza palaces into fast food joints. It’s akin to Diner Dash, but is much less relaxed.

What’s it about?

The character you control is Rebecca, a redheaded entrepreneur who got the great idea to open up a pizza place in a castle while reading the classifieds one day.

Together with her somewhat slothful partner, Robert, she must work to make the bare-bones eatery a success.

As in Diner Dash, Rebecca must take orders, deliver food, collect tips, and keep the patrons’ moods stable. The main differences being that there are no color combos to worry about as there are no seats (customers instead gather around the counter and all try to grab at your attention), and there are usually steps involved in preparing the food.

Like most frenzy games, forming combos is key. Aim to pick up all orders at once, then deliver all of the food at once, too, before collecting the money. Different customers have different patience levels, so you may want to serve those who are the crankiest first.

Emotion meters by their heads will go from green (normal) to red (mad at you) and tend to run out quickly.

Although the name is Turbo Pizza, you’ll actually be serving a lot of snacks as well. Coffee requires a pot being made before it can be distributed, while ice cream will have you going all Baskin Robbins by first grabbing a gone and then administering a flavor.

As for the pies, the only thing Robert does in this game is quickly replace any ready-to-bake pizzas that you grab and put in an oven (oh, and dance to his iPod when there’s not orders, too). Pizzas come in flavors like pepperoni, cheese, crab, and anchovy.

Meet the level goals to put the money right back into your restaurant in upgrades. Have fun popularizing the pizza parlor and meeting new challenges along the way.

Pros and cons

+ Beware, the positively upbeat music may find you dancing in your desk seat.

+ Upgrades are things like better equipment, snazzy décor repairs, and further education for Rebecca and Robert in all things pizza.

+ 50 levels in two locations: the castle and undersea.

+ A pizza-making mini-game occurs at the end of each stage.

+ Cute cheese shapes distinguish where you got Expert score on a level.

+ Recommended for more “seasoned” multi-taskers who are up for a challenge. It gets pretty crazy!!

- The graphics aren’t that exciting.

- One of the characters is a teenage girl who enjoys wearing her thong very provocatively. Kind of funny, but not very family-friendly.

The verdict

This game is almost as yummy as Domino’s. It will have you craving a slice... and a sequel.
