Game developers have managed to "think outside the bun" with Turbo Fiesta, which serves up Mexican fare in outer space. "Casual" gaming is starting to look not so casual...
What’s it about?
A somewhat choppy comic intro explains that Rebecca’s Aunt Rhonda (the same one who gave her a subway car as a "present") just got back from a zero-G flight, of which the food was quite horrible.
The overtaxed redhead proves she can leave no nibble niche behind by deciding to launch a Mexican branch of her Turbo brand that’s literally out-of-this-world.
You’ll feel as though you’ve boarded the Starship Enterprise as you navigate Turbo turf that’s familiar, but has definitely taken on a new look.
Rebecca still performs the same basic duties as the previous two games while handing out unique appetizers such as nachos and rehydrated beans.
Robert, on the other hand, has found a way to contribute even less to the partnership that’s now in space. He merely pushes the corresponding burrito button on his keyboard, which triggers a robot to do all of the actual labor for him. He spends the bulk of his shift time goofing off with a DS-like gaming console.
With something as high-tech as taking a burrito barn to space, naturally you’d expect further innovations from the Turbo line as well.
New to this game are a laser cooker for fried ice cream, a HandBot upgrade that allows Rebecca to carry three items at once (since Robert isn’t lending a limb anytime soon), and most notably, Fiesta mode.
Fiesta mode occurs on the fourth instance of filling your Turbo Service meter (which sounds hard to do, but is typically achievable once per level). Keep working as quickly as you can doing repeated actions and before you know it, the adorable Fiesta mode will be upon you.
Confetti and piñatas drop from the ceiling while a Latin tune blares and munchies are available for instant gratification (no wait times).
Have fun flying through space (and flying around the counter) as you juggle the biggest demands that the Turbo games have offered yet.

Pros and cons
+ Taking Taco Bell to Mars is quirky, but is a creative twist that the Turbo series needed.
+ Customers’ food fetishes can come in multiples, adding to the challenge.
+ Good friends from the previous two eateries are present (all donning space suits, of course), proving that some will go to great lengths to support a Turbo establishment. There are plenty of new customers as well.
+ The metal, octopus-like HandBot that sits on top of Rebecca’s head and the whole Fiesta idea in general are so cute, you could just “eat them up”!
+ The burritos incorporate condiments as well, just like the sandwiches did in Turbo Subs.
+ Going back to get Expert on every level takes the re-play value to infinity and beyond.
- I hate, hate the new mini-game that a player is forced to endure at specific checkpoints. You don’t get enough time, in my opinion, to piece together piles of pipes to restore the ship’s electricity.
- This game will be too hard for some players.
The verdict
I was soo excited for this installment to come out and floored by its ingenuity. There’s no need to add any extra sauce to this tamale; it’s plenty spicy on its own! Turbo Fiesta leaves me wondering where Rebecca and Robert will show up next.
