Quick verdict
Don't see only the quick verdict, this is only to let you a resume. It's a copy. Yes, it's a copy, but if you are a fan of Catan's games, you need to buy this, like other games. This isn't the best, but it isn't the worst too. In my opinion The Settlers of catan the dice game is the worst.
The game and gameplay
Near 2700 AD, you and your friends (and not your friends too) compete to be the new Council of the Galaxy.
Each player is in a solar system, and each player, starts with three planets, this can be changed if the 3 or 4 players are ok. Well, exactly not 3 planets, each player starts with 2 planets and 1 space port.
All these components are made of plastic. But I think if I pay the game, it isn't cheap, so it can be made of better materials, not?
Well, the game consists in each planet produces raw materials and you can move this materials to your others planets or with other planets of other players.
How you get materials? Well, there is a dice, and it's rolled: if the number of the dice is the same of one of your colonies or spaceport, you get the materials.
The resources that you get for rolling the dice are traded for buying colony ships, some upgrades for your fleet etc.
Beware about exploring, some planets are made of ice and some planets have pirates.
Pros and cons
The materials: Well,for this game, we will pay around 35-50$ it's depend where you buy it. If I pay this, I want GOOD materials, made of wood, and no cheap plastic. But they look good.
The gameplay: I like it. I'm a fan of Catan, not all games how I said before, the dice game which I have, it's the worst... but we are talking about Starfarers of Catan board game.
It's more about exploring and trading. You need to grow faster than your opponents.
Expansions: If you buy this game, you can buy two expasions: For play with 1 or 2 more, and the figures. But I think paying 40$ they must include figures. But, well...
The verdict
This is only my opinion. If you are a fan of Catan games, BUY IT! If not, and you are new in Catan's World, this is a good game for start and becoming a fan of CATAN!
