This set divides opinion. Whatever your personal feeling about the black and silver look and the raised grid, this is a turntable edition of Scrabble and has plenty of fans.
People who disliked it were expecting a better quality of components and finish. Unless you shell out for the Franklin Mint Scrabble set, you won't be getting a gilt-edged set here.
However, most people really liked this set. You do get what you pay for: the current price of around $50 is 10 percent of the price of the Franklin set (though they trade for $300 on eBay). Most people aren't going to spend that on a board game.
