Quick verdict
Peggle original lovers rejoice! Peggle returns in this somewhat darker but still divine sequel.
What's it about?
All of the lovable Peggle characters are back, but with secret identities.
Bjorn is now a caped crusader, Jimmy Lightning is a mad scientist, Renfield is a painter and Tula is a world traveler.
The 60 new levels reflect and incorporate these alter egos, with a new Peggle personality being present as well.
The gameplay and overall navigation of the Peggle game is still the same, but graphics have gotten a boost, and the layout of the pegs is more complex as well.
In addition to the 100% Cleared medal for levels as offered in the previous edition, Peggle Nights adds a points-based Ace medal to its repertoire.

+ The 60 added Challenges are wackier and a bit more fun than in the original game. Beat a level with six unique Style Shots; crush another with a pair of flippers, a fireball, and a pyramid, or stay under a low number of points.+ Supplemental Bonus Levels are available periodically for download. Popcap came out with a lovely batch of holiday-themed levels and challenges this past season.
- It’s much harder than the original game if you’re a completionist fanatic like me. I literally had to play certain Challenges dozens of times over before perfection was obtained. And while I love Peggle dearly, sometimes I just want to get it over with and win!
- Peggle Nights is still not available for the Mac despite promise of it being, and it released in September 2008.
The verdict
Peggle Nights is all of the goodness of original Peggle in a newer, more aesthetic package. Peggle trilogy, anyone?
