Passport to Perfume combines more than one popular casual gameplay type, but, like mixing scents on a human body, this doesn't make for a spectacular outcome. It doesn't stink, either.
What's it about?
You inherit a perfume shop and must turn it into a roaring success.
This is done by offering your customers, who are in a real hurry for people of leisure, all kinds of scents and sniffies to purchase for their loved ones.
Of course it's never THAT easy. Like all good time management games, your customers have limited patience. So while you're dashing around trying to keep everybody happy, filling perfume bottles, gift wrapping, adding sparkles and so on, eventually somebody's going to blow their stack and leave in a huff.
Like any of the similar games out there, you can keep people happy in a number of ways, including helping them to choose a scent with a sampler tray, or giving them an orchid to calm them down.
Every couple of levels, you leave the shop and go off to search for rare ingredients. Here's where I was really disappointed with Passport to Perfume. Rather than a Chocolatier-style adventure, instead you are lumbered with tedious hidden object searches to find the new ingredients for your more exotic perfumes.These sections are an unwelcome distraction, either too easy or way too hard and you will wish there was an option to switch them off before long.
Mixing new perfumes is simplistic and merely a matter of trial and error. Fortunately it does not make up much of the game.
Use your profits to improve the shop with upgrades to machines and mixing speeds, until you conquer a city and have to move onto bigger and better boutiques.

The verdict
Passport to Perfume is fun, in a limited way and as long as you don't detest the hidden object mini-games as much as I do, you will get a lot of action from it for your bucks.
