Matchmaker: Joining Hearts is a sweet but overly easy game that proves to be just another HOG. Had it been a bit livelier, opinions on the game would be different.
What's it about?
Helen Jones is a sweet old lady with a knack for fixing people up. Her whole philosophy about love is that you can tell a lot about people based on the objects that they surround themselves with.
In the game, the main focus of her matchmaking involves investigating people's homes for clues on how they are. Discovering lots of food by way of a hidden object list, for example, indicates that the homeowner is a bit of a gourmet.
Helen then takes her notes and has the lovebirds pick out a gift, of which you must find the pieces of it in yet another hidden object picture. When they go on their date, it's your job to place certain items back in the scene.
This sort of cycle repeats for all of the couples in the game.

Pros and cons
+ Interesting, fresh storyline concept.
+ Can hunt for objects via a list or their shadows.
- Crammed, repeating scenes.
The verdict
Matchmaker: Joining Hearts may not be the perfect match for you due to its well-meaning but dull interface. It just won't live up to the expectations of most HOG
enthusiasts.
