Quick verdict
Mahjongg XP Championship looks like a Microsoft javascript game from long ago. It’s Mahjongg pure and simple, without many bells and whistles.
The game and gameplay
Hitting Run Game will take you immediately to a fresh Mahjongg set. Go through the level from there, aiming to make matches using the top tiles.
Status bars that resemble a computer application like Word keep track of your Tiles left, Free pairs and time.
There are other options in the top bar - none of which are crucial, though, and you must click them yourself to find out what they do.
Different layouts exist, such as an ABC, angel and zodiac themes if you search for them. You have to go to Help Topics if you want any real instruction in the game.
Four other modes of play exist, but again, you must look up the cumbersome rules in Help to know how to play. It’s all basically to earn a high score and that’s it.
The customizable backgrounds and tile sets are far more worthwhile than the game itself. You can make your own tiles by importing a picture, which is the neatest aspect. You can also modify any of the layouts yourself, but it’s kind of pointless unless you know what you’re doing.

Pros and cons
Mahjongg XP Championship is basic and underwhelming. It’s good if you want a "serious" Mahjongg and/or prefer the purity of non-flashy applications. Those looking for a "fun" take on Mahjongg, though, will wonder what the manufacturers were thinking.
The verdict
Mahjongg XP Championship is only for diehard and solemn players. If Mahjongg is more work than play for you, then you’ve met your "match".
