Bowling isn't cheap when you factor in the shoe rental, snacks and cost per game, so if you desire to play for free (or to try to win some money), King.com has a solution for you. You receive a full ten frames with this version, but play is much faster.
What's it about?
Okay, so you are just bowling by yourself, and clicking will never quite measure up to the fun of the physical game. If you're looking for a decent alternative to the real thing, though, King Pin Bowling suffices.
The graphics and sounds of the online game mimic the thrill of an actual bowling alley, sans the cigarette smoke and weird-looking strangers. King Pin plays just like bowling in real life, except that you can't take all day to throw your ball. You are given a very short timeframe to try and make your two shots.
When you do make your throw, the ball doesn't always line up with where you were aiming and is unnaturally giant in comparison to the size of the pins. The lack of precision compared to other online bowling games I've played made me feel like I was grandma bowler.
Pros and cons
+ Lighted displays are present to indicate the remaining pins, the frame and your score.
+ A paper pop-up summarizes your shots.
- You can't customize your ball choice.
- Being so rushed and made to feel like a grandma is not ideal.
The verdict
King Pin Bowling should have extended the effort it put into its graphics into the movement mechanisms as well. It could be good for those who want a faster take on bowling and are up for the challenge, however.
