If you’re a fan of fashion, like the show Project Runway, or simply enjoy having an outlet for your creativity, then you’re bound to feel like the cat’s meow playing Jojo’s Fashion Show. Those who can roll out of bed and effortlessly pull something presentable together in no time flat are also welcome, as the game is fast-paced like that.
What’s it about?
Jojo Cruz was once a household name (well, at least among the houses that had walk-in closets). Jojo’s fashion-forward daughter, Rosalind, convinces the stylist to come out of retirement for New York Fashion Week and beyond... and to face off her assistant-turned-rival, Claudio Maximiro.
Each level begins with a comic cut scene, usually between the mother and daughter, but sometimes between Jojo and Mr. Maximiro.
Then you are presented with the theme or themes for the current catwalk, each listing the items of clothing that qualify under that heading.
You’ll work mostly backstage during the game, throwing together fabulous last minute ensembles lest the poor girls will wind up on stage in their undies. You’re typically presented with three women at a time, each with a specific label above their head of what motif they need to be dressed in (unless you use a power up to change it).
Below them lie various pieces of clothing that you can drag and drop onto their bodies as you please. You have a limited amount of time before someone is due on the runway, so don’t doddle or get *too* picky.
As a girl does her little turn on the catwalk, each part of her outfit is judged based on how well it fits (the theme, that is). Every model’s score contributes to the overall rating of the show. You must pull off at least a 3-star show to move on.
There are a couple things you can do to maximiro – I mean, maximize – your score. First, try to always tag-team as many models of the same theme as you can to form a chain. Also pay attention and plan for the Signature Outfits depicted in the background of a level to rack up an additional 1,000 points when you send a fashionista out.
Last but not least, never underestimate the power of an accessory. Even if it doesn’t really “go” with the outfit, you’ll still score at least an extra 100 points for adding it.
Have fun playing dress up to what feels like virtual paper dolls in all of the top fashion capitals of the world!

Pros and cons
+ Cool and catchy techno tunes.
+ 60 addicting levels in which you can go back and try to get all 5-star on, and collect all of the Signature Outfits.
+ Dress Up mode allows you to deck out your Barbies using the clothing you’ve unlocked and with no time limit. You can also snap and export photos... for Vogue, perhaps?
+ The models will make little comments when you put something super chic (or super geek) on them. Rosalind compliments you as well.
+ A small arsenal of power ups are available that will aide you in determining the highest-scoring getups, instantly dress a Twiggy, or refresh the entire lot of available pieces.
+ There are a ton of different clothing styles, from seasonal to time periods to the just plain weird.
+ This game is suitable for members of the younger crowd as well.
- The storyline leaves something to be desired.
- It can be hard to distinguish precisely which clothing pieces to use for the Signature Outfits. Sometimes you’ll only be off by the color of the shoes! You won’t always be able to incorporate all three of the bonus ensembles on your first go, either.
The verdict
Jojo’s Fashion Show has the potential to rock your socks off, so long as it’s your kind of thing. It sort of reminds me of the show "What Not to Wear". Click here to read another review of Jojo'sFashionShow!
