Bonnie's Bookstore is an average word game based on Boggle or Bookworm. It's not bad, but there are several flaws which prevent it from being a much better game.
What's it about?
Much as in Bookworm, there's a grid of letters laid out apparently at random (the skill level makes a big difference in just how random the letters are, at least at the start).
You have to turn all the letters from yellow to green to progress past each level. This is done by including them in a word made from at least three letters, Boggle-style. Once used, the letters vanish and new ones drop in from the top to replace them.
There are complications, of course! For a start, make too many three-letter words and Writer's Blocks appear. These take up valuable spaces and cannot be included in words you make.
Locks block squares and can only be removed by using a letter adjacent to each lock. Some squares switch around from green to yellow again if you use them more than once.
Other squares have positive uses: you get a wild card square if you make a five-letter word and if you manage a seven-letter word, a permanent wild card appears.
Each level has a different layout, with some of the odd-shaped screens being much more difficult to complete.
Classic mode gives you a number of turns to finish the level, while the arcade mode sets a time limit. You get extra time for using longer words.

Pros and cons
+ Word games are always good for your brain and this one is as good as Bookworm from that perspective. Good for word power!
+ Interesting use of squares, such as wild cards, the flexible ones which change to the last letter of the previously submitted word and the alphabetical order block.
- Graphics and sound are badly dated.
- The time limit in arcade mode has no audible indicator when it's running short. You have to remember to keep looking at it.
The verdict
Bonnie's Bookstore is a decent word game. However, your GamePass is better spent on one of the free Bookworm word games.
