Bejeweled 2 is a huge step up visually over the original version. It now has four gameplay modes; it's a lot of game and just as addictive!
Just like the first Bejeweled game, the sequel involves switching one gem with another to make lines of three or more. However, there's so much more to this game, both gameplay and visually, that you'll do a double take when you first boot it up!
First thing that hits you is how snazzy this version is. It's at least five times as impressive to look at. This is more a reflection of the changing times than anything else; game graphics had moved on a lot since the first Bejeweled game came out.The gems are simply gorgeous; backgrounds are very pretty; and when you clear a level, you're treated to a swirly 2001-style time tunnel multi-colour graphic that's FAR OUT, MAN!
There are two special kinds of gems in Bejeweled Deluxe 2. The first, when you create a line of four gems, is a Power Gem. This glows on and off and when combined with two or more of the same colour again, it explodes, wiping out a large section of the gems around it and detonating any other adjacent power gems.

Make a combo of five or more gems and you create a Hyper Cube. This wipes out ALL the gems of the same colour as the ones you combine it with (hyper cubes are wildcards and can be combined with any colour pair of gems to be activated).
The four game modes are Classic (clear a level by scoring enough combos), Action (the same as the old Time Trial game, you against the clock), Puzzle (set puzzles which you have to clear, no time limit) and Endless (a relaxed, easy game that you can play forever).
